Exposição Floral 2006 da estação

The display of flowers at Bridlington Station Buffet was started over 20 years ago by the previous tenant

Mrs Madeline Crook, who planted and tended four tubs, over the next seventeen years she expanded and changed the display every year. Madeline became known as the ‘station flower lady” single handed she planted and watered every tub by hand.

When the present tenant John Sadler took over from Madeline he agreed to carry on the tradition and out of respect to her he carried on the tradition of expanding and changing the display every year.

The display this year comprises of two original renovated BR trolleys and one sack barrow along with an original luggage scale from Bridlington Station and two tin baths, 3 wheel barrows, 67 Hanging Baskets, 40 hanging bags, 245 tubs of various shapes and sizes, and 6 flower beds. 3800 plants were planted both on the concourse and at the front of the station. The watering now takes approximately four hours a day.

Passengers both arriving and departing are met by a mass of colour, and it give them good memories of their journey.

People come back year after year to admire the display of colour and the station has to be one of the most photographed in the country.

Floral display is the work of The Station Buffet with the much appreciated support of Northern Rail.
