Community Rail Week 2007
Community Rail Week took place from 19th May - 26th May 2007, at various locations throughout the country. Organised by ACoRP, the Rail Operating Companies and Community Rail Partnerships. The aim is to show that rail is an environmental friendly way to travel.
The Gala at Bridlington Station along with other events along the Yorkshire Coast Line (Scarborough - Hull) was with the support of Northern Rail, The Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership, Bridlington Station Buffet, Bridlington Model Railway Society and MIND.
Without doubt the 'Star' of the Gala was the Ned Rail Roaring Rail Orchestra, who travelled overnight from the Netherland's just to play at Bridlington, then returned overnight back to the Netherlands. Well done, they added atmosphere and everyone thought they were brilliant, please come and visit again.

There was plenty of activities available for children off all ages, including trampolines and and 'bouncy' castle.
Face painting was provided by Sarah an artist from Mirror Image. She was kept busy all weekend, even John from the Buffet had his bald head painted.

The event raised funds for many charities including The Railway Children, RSPCA and the RNLI
A Big thank-you to Stuart Rands, Malcom Brown and all staff from Northern Rail, and all volunteers who made the event possible. A special thanks to David Walford and Sally Baird from HWRC for their hard work and involment.
On Friday 25th May we held a 'wine and cheese' tasting courtesy of Northern Rail, it was well attended and was enjoyed by all.

Saturday 26th May saw a Karaoke night on the station concourse starting at 8.00pm and finishing at midnight. Passengers both leaving or arriving by train even joined the singing.
A good atmosphere was created and everyone enjoyed it, it was so popular we will be holding another one. watch this space.
The Karaoke was hosted by Lou and a great job he did even singing himself and cracking the odd gag.
