Community Rail Day 2006 Bridlington Station
The Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership took part in the National Community Rail day which was held on Saturday 20th May 2006.
The event was sponsored by:
Northern Rail
YCCRP
Bridlington Station Buffet
Driffield Station Buffet
Bridlington Railway Society.

The day started at stations on the Yorkshire Coast Line which runs from Hull to Scarborough, with members and volunteers from the YCCRP giving out literature and gifts to passengers traveling the line.
Dave Walford, Rail Development Officer again showed his worth giving assistance and co-ordinating the day.

There was entertainment on various trains through out the day and at stations, at Bridlington Station there was a Station Gala with the Barber Shop Singers, charity Stalls, working model train layouts and various trade stalls selling a wide selection of goods. The event even publicised bus travel with the EYCC bus given out timetables and other brochures of local interest.

The charities which took part included the RSPCA, RNLI, Railway Children, Mind, Tackling Teenage Cancer and St Catherines Hospice, all agreed they did well thanks to the generosity of the station users.

The whole day was well supported and and fun was had by all, the typical British weather could not dampen spirits, Northern Rail was represented by Stuart Rands and Peter Myers.

Community Rail 2007
The event is proving so popular both locally and nationally that in 2007 it is changing from Community Rail Day to Community Rail Week.
